| Good morning ,judges, ladies and gentlemen. Today we are here to debate on " Homosexual should allowed to be married in Macau". According to the Longman Dictationary, homosexual means the physical attraction to a person of the same sex. It can latent which means a person may be homosexual without really being aware of such tendency or fullfledged active sexual orientation, which means the preference for sexual activity with people of the opposite sex, the same sex or both. Homosexuality is men being sexually and emotionally attracted to men, and women being sexually and emotionally attracted to women. This is also called same-sex attraction. Research shows that the percentage of the homosexual trend in Macau is4.7%. that means out of 10 person, there is one who belongs to the homosexual group.Let's take one class of students as an example.Out of 44 of them, there may be 4 of them are homosexual according to the percentage , therefore, there may be totally 16 of them are homosexual among the 4 classes. Besides as i have just mentioned that there is a latent of homosexual in ourselves as we were born. What I want to clarify is that we cannot control our own when we discover we have this kind of feeling towards the same sex. Therefore, it is just depend on what is your own sexual orientation towards the same sex. my 1 st speaker will states this point in detail. althought they are homosexual , they are still human being, they will not do anything to you if you don't discriminate or harm intentionally, they have the right to marry and this is not something that can cause you to have trouble. My 2nd speaker will discuss this point more detailed .Besides, we needed to accept that this is the fact although homosexual to get marry is not a normal sexual orientation , moreover ,nowadays many modern countries have set laws to protect them. My 3rd speaker will explain this point fully. Because of the above points , we ,our house therefore staunchly stand by today's motion. | | |
| Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen. As we know that Macau is a liberal city. According to the articles 38 of the Macau Basic Law, Macau residents have their freedom of marriage, building up their family and willingness to give birth. That means all of us have the right to choose our partners. Nowadays, in most of the developed countries, same-sex relationships are accepted, and are accorded with legal protection. Many governments have established formal structures for confirming legal relationships either as marriage or partnership between people of the same sex. There are more than 20 countries accept it, such as Netherlands, France, Portugal, etc and one Asian country, Israel. Organisations such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Central Intelligence Agency generally agree that Macau is a developed city and thus it is necessary for Macau to follow the laws of the well-developed countries in order to upgrade our international level. Secondly, many people think that marriage by the state is a secular activity and it is more than a legal status. It affects many things in society such as tax filing status, joint ownership of property, insurance benefits and agency law. It also affects critical medical decisions. For example, if one member of a homosexual couple that has been together for 20 years gets critically ill, visitation may not even be allowed sincethe other is not considered a spouse or immediate family member. So, are they really enjoyed their humans rights proposed by the basic law? | | |
| Good morning ladies and gentlemen. In view of today’s motion, le t me clarity one point……………Nowadays, there are many causes of homosexuality. There are mainly divided into 3 factors: physical factors, psychology factors and family factors. For the 1st cause—physical factors, homosexual will be affected such as prenatal hormones, chromosomes, polygenetic effects, etc. For the 2nd cause—psychology factors. Homosexual’s psychology maybe affected when they grown up in the environment. Or maybe their psychology was affected due to the society, television program or even their favorite idols. Another case are some females may have been violate by somebody, therefore they will not trust males anymore. These will lead being a homosexual. Lastly, for the 3rd cause—family factors, when one got a unstable families, or there were problems between their parents, etc, will also lead them being a homosexual. In addition, there are many other factors that cannot be explained. The psychological professional have not considered homosexuality as mental illness , and it have been proven that it is not changeable. From all these powerful evidence, we can see that homosexual are caused by factors but they not pretended, which nowadays people usually misunderstand it. Then, if their characters cannot be changed, they will have the same-sex partners in their whole life, then why the same-sex marriage cannot be legalized in Macau? Therefore, our house strongly believed that homosexual should get married in Macau. Thankyou.

| Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Nowadays, human rights belongs all human beings, we all have the right to choose our partners and we should not restrict others and discriminate them.. There is also no right or wrong in love. Love includes care, respect joys and sorrows. Marriage should not be just between a man and a woman, it should be between two individual parties. Then if two people are in love with each other and care about others, then why should we disallowed them to get marry. Marriage is a basic human right and is also a basic right for all the social member. Homosexuals are also a member of the society, we should also consider their needs and think about them. Therefore they all have the right to marry. We should all treat the same-sex marriage in the same wayas others because they they also have the right to marry with the one they like. We should respect and understand the choices of others. Homosexuals have the right to live as they choose, free from discrimination. I want to ask what is the meaning of marriage? Is it only for having children? Our house don't think that this is the most important reason. Marriage is a desire of building a family where people can rely on each other, support each other and keep other's company in the future. As for homosexual they alos want the smae thing. the also have the same desire as other man or woman do. So there is surely no reason why two people love each other are forbidden to get married just because they are homosexuals. Lastly, I 'd like my dear opponents to tell us that if we set a limit on who should marry who or get married with who, then are we all living in the land of the free ?? Is it fair ?? | | |
pro During the past decade, scientists have revisited several old questions about homosexuality, for example, whether it is related to brain anatomy, and whether it is shaped by genetic or other prenatal influences (e.g., Allen & Gorski, 1992; Bailey & Pillard, 1991; Diamond & Sigmundson, 1997; Hamer, Hu, Magnuson, Hu, & Pattatucci, 1993; LeVay, 1991; Whitam, Diamond, & Martin, 1993; Zucker et al., 1996). The interpretations of the new research-in some cases, the findings themselves-remain to be verified, but the general thrust of this work is a greater emphasis on biological factors in sexual orientation. Another old question that has been reconsidered is the relation between homosexuality in adulthood and cross-gender behavior in childhood. This particular issue has now been settled, thanks to a comprehensive meta-analysis of all relevant studies in the English-language literature (Bailey & Zucker, 1995). The positive correlation between childhood cross-gender behavior and adult homosexuality is not perfect, but it is one of the strongest developmental continuities to have emerged from prospective and retrospective study in the past 40 years in any area of human behavior research (Zucker, 1987). A final question to be reopened is whether homosexuality correlates with specific aspects of family demographics, namely, birth order and sibling sex ratio. In what follows, I review the evidence that the mean birth orders or sibling sex ratios of homosexual men and women differ from those of comparable heterosexuals, touch upon some of the methodological problems and solutions in this type of research, and discuss the various theories that have been, or could be, advanced to account for the cumulative findings. Homosexual behaviour does occur in the animal kingdom, especially in social species, particularly in marine birds and mammals, monkeys and the great apes. Homosexual behaviour has been observed among 1,500 species, and in 500 of those it is well documented.[11] Georgetown University professor Janet Mann has specifically theorized that homosexual behavior, at least in dolphins, is an evolutionary advantage that minimizes intraspecies aggression, especially among males. In most developed countries, same-sex relationships are accepted, and are accorded legal protection. Many governments have established formal structures for confirming legal relationships (either as marriage or partnership) between people of the same sex. For example, the Supreme Court of Canada, citing the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, established that the Government could allow same-sex marriage on the basis of human rights, which it then did when Bill C-38 received Royal Assent on July 20, 2005. Some people argue for legal recognition and social acceptance of same-sex relationships, believing that homosexuality is an inborn trait; yet it is difficult for others who believe that homosexuality is a choice to change their moral stance on homosexuality. Some religious groups fear the slippery slope effect, arguing that same-sex tolerance is a step toward tolerance of other currently unaccepted practices such as polygamy and incest. Other religious-minded people believe that same-sex relationships are incompatible with their religious beliefs and worldview. They often attempt to use state-sanctioned punitive measures to discourage homosexuality, short of death or imprisonment. This includes attempts to rescind domestic partnership benefits through anti-gay-marriage initiatives with broad language. con" In some cultures homosexuality is still considered "unnatural" and is outlawed. In some Muslim nations (such as Iran) it remains a capital crime, as well as in some African countries. For example, two teenagers, Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni, were executed in Iran in 2005 reportedly because they had been caught having sex with each other, although Iran government maintains the conduct involved rape; the details of the event, including the allegations of the government, remain under dispute, particularly in the West. Pro- "It is commonplace in nature." Based on zoologists' observations of many different species.[34]
- "Suppressing it alters the balance of nature." A Bedamini Melanesian belief.[34]
- "It foments close friendships and independent thinking." Also in Lucian
- "It [male homosexuality] is a mark of true masculinity." Claimed by Indian Sufi Akhi Jamshed Rajgiri in self defense before the Sultan of Jaunpur for his love of youths. (In Vanita & Kidwai, 2000, p.139)
- "Suppression is irrational." Jeremy Bentham, in his 1785 essay on "Paederasty" (first English language text on homosexuality). In that same work, he also states: "It is wonderful that nobody has ever yet fancied it to be sinful to scratch where it itches, and that it has never been determined that the only natural way of scratching is with such or such a finger and that it is unnatural to scratch with any other."
- "The male form is superior to the female form." (implication for male homosexuality). Medieval Arabic text included in The Book of One Thousand and One Nights (The Debate Between the Wise Woman and the Sage).
Con- "Same-sex love is against nature." This charge dates back to Classical Greece, where it was first articulated by Plato in his Laws. Of course, Plato also portrayed many homosexual and homoerotic scenes in his dialogues, most notably in the Lysis, Charmides, and Symposium.
- "It is condemned by God." Expressed by early Christian exegetes (claimed to be the moral of the Sodom and Gomorrah story), and also in the Qur'an. The Scriptures of the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) are said to condemn the practice.
- "It leads to plagues and natural disasters." Advanced by Christian authorities from late Antiquity through the Renaissance, as well as by orthodox Islamic ones. (As in the poems of Sanai)
- "It is abuse of the young." Encountered in "Erotes," a dialogue of the early Christian era by Lucian.
- "It is a dissipation of one's reproductive force." Plato, Laws, 838
